From Still Image to Living Moment

There’s a kind of silence in Paris. It's a silence you only notice when you’re standing still. I was in the middle of the Seine, camera in hand, framing the statue — a smaller, quieter Lady Liberty. She stands apart from the crowds, looking westward, staring towards her sister on Liberty Island in New York. And then, just as I pressed the shutter, a bird flew overhead.
It was one of those unscripted seconds — a click, a shape in the sky, a breath of movement that changed the photo entirely.

That fleeting moment became one of my favourite frames. The composition, the contrast, the symbolism — it all came together unexpectedly. When I look at this image, as with many of my photographs, I’m reminded that I’m not just capturing a scene — I’m capturing part of a story.
Wanting to see that story continue, I decided to animate the image — to bring it to life. Unlike my previous GIFs, this was something more: a memory reimagined as motion. The bird glides again. The city exhales. And Liberty, even in her stillness, feels quietly alive.
Out of hundreds of frames I took in Paris, this one kept pulling me back. And perhaps now you can see why!
The still photo is now available as a fine art print, in both color and black & white. Click here to view details and order yours!
