Included in a group show at AVA Gallery in Chattanooga, TN is my image Stars. The show 'The Color Yellow' can be seen from June 13th - July 18th.
Upon viewing, you will notice my image is not yellow. Instead, I thought about what the colour yellow means to me — a quiet pulse in the darkness, the warmth of light travelling through time. The stars above and the glow in the distance speak to something both vast and intimate: hope, longing, and the quiet electricity of being alive.
Of course, the second I hear the work 'yellow', I immediately start to sing the song "Yellow" by Coldplay. The song adds to the inspiration behind my concept. This photograph captures a moment suspended between cosmic distance and human presence — a person lit gently by something far away, yet deeply felt. Yellow represents that quiet power: not loud or bright, but magnetic — the light that finds you in the dark.
And of course, if you follow me on Instagram, you will have already seen my post where I went one step further and created an animation of a day time image that transitions into the darkness of the stars. I titled this motion 'From Day to Night in the Valley' which is a visual meditation on movement, stillness, and light.
